Abingdon Health, a leading diagnostics company, has reported that its Salistick saliva pregnancy test will be available in Tesco stores starting in late August. This announcement has led to a surge in the company's shares, which were up by 29% at 11.25 pence as of 0702 GMT.

The innovative Salistick test will be released both online and in 298 of Tesco's larger stores. This comes after the successful launch of the product in 400 Superdrug stores and online in June.

The Salistick test promises an enhanced user experience with its high accuracy in early pregnancy detection, according to Abingdon Health. With an estimated 12.5 million pregnancy tests conducted in the U.K. in 2022 and a global market value of $1.70 billion that year (projected to reach $2.28 billion by 2028), the demand for such tests is evident.

Abingdon Health holds sole distribution rights for Salistick in the U.K. and Ireland, acting on behalf of Israeli developer Salignostics. In addition to distribution support, Abingdon is also involved in contract development services to scale up the product for manufacturing, and will continue to provide contract manufacturing services to the company moving forward.
