Several companies in the FTSE 100 witnessed significant declines today. Notably, Fresnillo PLC (FRES) saw the largest decrease with a drop of 4.68% in their shares. Following closely behind were AstraZeneca PLC (AZN) and BT Group PLC (BT.A) with declines of 3.16% and 2.85%, respectively.

BP PLC (BP) and Antofagasta PLC (ANTO), both major players in the oil, natural gas, and non-ferrous metals industries, also experienced declines today. BP's stocks shed 2.42% while Antofagasta's stocks dropped by 2.04%.

Flutter Entertainment PLC Witnesses Significant Increase

In contrast to the declining stocks, Flutter Entertainment PLC (FLTR), a prominent company in the gambling industry, saw a notable increase of 4.06% in their shares today.

Positive Performance for Food Retail and Airlines Sectors

Ocado Group PLC (OCDO), a leading food retail firm, and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (IAG), a passenger airlines company, experienced growth today. Their shares rose by 3.84% and 2.83%, respectively.

abrdn PLC (ABDN), an investment advisors company, and Informa PLC (INF), a publishing company, also witnessed notable increases today with their stocks rising by 2.39% and 2.30%, respectively.

Currency and Commodity Market Updates

The pound exhibited strength against both the dollar and euro today. It was up 0.54% against the dollar, reaching $1.2231, and increased slightly by 0.06% against the euro, amounting to €1.1489.

Meanwhile, Brent crude fell by 1.4% to $90.84, and the yield on the 10-year gilt declined by 5.560 basis points, reaching a value of 4.599%.
